Governors
Sacred Heart RC Primary and Nursery School is a voluntary-aided school and is governed by a team of twelve School Governors.
The Governing Body is made up of:
- 7 Foundation Governors – appointed by the Diocese; these Governors are often parents of children in the school. Mrs Scholastic Odey, Ms Rachael Reader and 5 vacancies
- 2 Parent Governor – elected by the parents of the children in the school. Mrs Ruth Taylor and Mr Rudiger Ryan
- 1 Staff Governor – Mrs Sarah Brown
- 1 LEA Governor – Mrs Vicky Woodruff
- Co-opted Governor – Mrs Lisa Price
- Headteacher – Mrs P Dungworth
It is our role to work with the Head and the Leadership Team to provide the best possible education and environment for your child. Part of our remit is to regularly formulate, approve and review the internal policies which underpin the life of the school.
Ruth Taylor
Ruth is in her second term as Parent Governor at Sacred Heart and currently chairs the board. As mum to Jess, now in Key Stage 2, she sees first hand how Sacred Heart provides safe and happy learning environment.
As a Director of a small marketing and communications company, Ruth contributes to the strategic oversight of the school and how to communicate better with children, parents, our local community and beyond!
Ruth from time to time has a more hands on approach by assisting on trips and observes the day to day running of the school to make effective decisions as governor.
Ruth enjoys reading, photography and trips out in her spare time
Jean Bannon
Jean is a Foundation Governor providing links between church and school. She has been involved with school for many years with her grandchildren having attended Sacred Heart and she is an experienced governor.
As a retired nurse she brings an honest, yet fair discussion to the board as well as a warm personality and a good understanding of Catholic education.
Rachael Reader
Rachael is a Foundation Parent Governor at Sacred Heart. She is also a parent with her daughter in Key Stage 1. She works as a Teaching Assistant at Kingsway Park High School specifically with SEND students which allows her insight into her role as Link Governor for SEND here at Sacred Heart. St. Margaret Clitheroe is her Parish. She attends mass weekly and helps with the music at both churches linked to the parish.
She thoroughly enjoys reading, photography and trips to the theatre.
Sarah Brown
Sarah is currently in her third term as Staff Governor at Sacred Heart and has been a teaching assistant here for nine years.
As well as being a staff member, her two daughters attended Sacred Heart which gives her an insight into how the school is run and the experience that children and their parents have.
She is currently in our Year 6 class and her classroom experience gives her first- hand experience of how the school is run on a day to day level. I am able to see how strategic planning is put into practice and the outcomes this produces for our children.
She has developed open, professional relationships with parents and, having been a parent here herself, she has a good understanding of the community our school serves.
Outside of school, she enjoys walking, cooking and reading.
