On Tuesday 23rd February, Miss Murphy our sports coach, took our football team from Years 5 and 6 to St Mary’s RC Primary School in Middleton for a tournament, the children thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to the next tournament.

This week three of our Year 6 children took part in a Boccia and new age Kurling Event at Wardle Academy. This was the first time our school have participated in this particular event. The children enjoyed themselves and showed some supper skills.
A ‘playground pal’ assessor has been visiting our school over the last two weeks. She has spent time with the year 5 children introducing them to playground activities which they will then offer to the younger children during lunchtimes. As a proud sports coach I am still recovering from the Basketball competition at Kingsway Park on Thursday. The children were absolutely brilliant, they played three matches against other schools which they won, guaranteeing them a place in the final. A big thank you to Castleton Primary school who invited us to join them a their weekly basketball practise, The staff and pupils made us feel very welcome and the children from both schools played a number of short games alongside each other. We hope to return the invite in the near future.
On Monday 18th January our basketball team competed in our first league event. Although the children didn’t win their matches the spirit and determination shown by our children was fantastic. We will continue to take part in monthly league fixtures throughout the year.
On Thursday 14th January a number of our year 5 and 6 children attended a multi sports event, hosted by Wardle Academy. The children competed against a large number of other schools in the different events including, standing long jump,vertical jump,spring bounce and a number of indoor team relay events, The children were absolutely brilliant.
On Wednesday 13th January a small group of children attended a gymnastics and movement event at Sparks Gym Heywood. The children who attended were given the opportunity to use gymnastics equipment and work with other schools. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
On Thursday 26th November a number of Year 4 & 5 children took part in a football tournament at The Soccer Village Milnrow. The team put on an outstanding performance, showing true determination. The boys played four matches in all loosing 1, drawing 1 and winning 2. Well done boys!
