It is our role to work with the Head and the Leadership Team to provide the best possible education and environment for your child. Part of our remit is to regularly formulate, approve and review the internal policies which underpin the life of the school.

Governors Responsibility April 2017

About Our Governors

Moira Wheatley (Foundation Governor appointed November 2014)

Recently retired, I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren, 4 of whom are currently in the Primary sector and who keep me busy and involved in their school life. This will be my fourth Term of Office as a Governor, I have previously served as a Parent Governor, Non-Teaching Staff Governor and I am currently also a Community Governor at Redwood School. (Redwood is the Borough’s 11-18 School for pupils with Special Educational Needs) I believe strongly that all children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, whatever that may be, and that there should not be any barriers to learning at any stage in their life. I worked in a local Primary School for 16 years as a School Administrator/Bursar, and then as Personal Assistant to the Head of Schools at Rochdale Local Authority. Both these roles have given me a wide knowledge of school finance regulations and requirements, some understanding of Educational Personnel issues, together with the wider aspects of education. I am a practising Catholic and a Eucharistic Minister, involved with the many aspects of supporting the Sacred Heart Church. I help with the financial accounting, and have been appointed by the Registry Office as the person responsible for the recording of Marriages celebrated there.

Tara Lucas – Foundation Governor
My name is Tara Lucas, a mother of three boys, two of which currently attend Sacred Heart RC School and one who is looking forward to joining the nursery in the very near future. I currently work for one of the Big 4 Supermarkets, as a field manager in Retail Operations. Time is of the essence, however I feel privileged to play an important role in supporting the school for the good of each child and their future development. Appointed as a Foundation Governor, I believe it is highly important to also ensure the catholic ethos resonates throughout everyday learning. As a regular church attendee, I embrace the network and community spirit of children, parents, teachers, Parish priest and parishioners, to create a building block and role model for our pupils. I have a strong passion for music and attend many gigs, across various genres. However, my spare time is dedicated to my three children and their enthusiasm for sport. Weekly attendance to Sunday football matches helps build stamina to the cold winter months ahead!

Jill Mantalvanos Parent Governor

I am a mother of four, two have already passed through Sacred Heart Primary School, one is currently in Year 1 and my youngest will hopefully  attend in the near future.  We attend church regularly and both my eldest daughters have been altar servers.  I presently work for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing which has given me a great insight into local peoples needs and the services offered in Rochdale.

I am a keen runner and this works wonders for my sanity as a working mother of 4 a husband and a very large dog!
