Our Roman Catholic Statement to Live By, is ‘I can laugh and have fun.’
This week our Year 5 children went to St Cuthbert’s school on Wednesday morning to experience a creative media and ICT session. Last week, for our Friday assembly, we welcomed a CAFOD representative to talk to the children about how ‘silly’ certain aspects of our world’s food allocation are. For example, it is silly to waste food and silly when our country has plenty of food and other countries are starving. So, on Friday, we held our own ‘silly’ day. It was the children’s idea to dress up in the colour of a vegetable for a donation of £1 for CAFOD. The whole school danced together and the children wrote and decorated a prayer on a paper plate for display to tie in with the CAFOD theme of ‘Make a place at your table.’ We also planted some seeds in our vegetable planters – hopefully they will be as successful as our poppies!
On Friday, our annual Operation Christmas Child (or shoebox) event was launched and we showed the children a video of how much their donations mean to children overseas. Parents and carers are always very generous for this very worthwhile cause and we would ask for your help again
