Our Roman Catholic Statement to Live By, is ‘I try to use words that make the world a better place’ (Please, sorry, thank you.)
This week the children have been busy preparing for the season of Lent, they have all made Lenten promises and are trying to grow more like Jesus each day.
On Shrove Tuesday there were lots of frying pans in school for our traditional pancake races.
Thursday – World Book Day was filled with lots of fabulous hats being worn giving us clues about book characters. Also, throughout the week, the hall has echoed to the sound of Year 5 practising playing their flutes ready for the Rochdale Music Festival next week at the Town Hall.
On Wednesday Key Stage 2 pupils and staff went to Mass at Sacred Heart Church to receive ashes for Ash Wednesday. The children were very respectful and well behaved in Church and as always we were very proud of them. The younger children also received ashes when Father came into school after mass.
Also on Thursday our Year 1 children enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Pioneers Museum where they learnt more about their local area and the History of Rochdale
On Friday 7th March our Guitar group played their wonderful ensemble at the Town Hall – which was enjoyed by all.
We would like to remind parents of children in Year 3 that they are invited to the Station Mass with Bishop Brain at Sacred Heart RC Church on Thursday 13th March at 7.30 pm and that they should wear their school uniform.
Next Tuesday: Mass in the school hall at 9.15am – all welcome.
